We hope you enjoy reading our article about Heybeliada, which is the 2nd largest island of the archipelago in Marmara.Heybeliada received this name due to its shape resembling a saddlebag, consisting of 2 high hills and 1 valley on the sea. Since copper was mined on the island in ancient times, it is referred to as the copper island in some sources.  

Heybeliada may not be as popular as Büyükada, but it is preferred by many tourists with its nature and history.

Some of the must-see places in Heybeliada are the Seminary, which dates back to the 8th century, the German Bay with a magnificent view, the Museum, which is the house where İsmet İnönü, the 2nd President of Turkey, lived before, the famous Turkish Literary Hüsseyin Rahmi Gürpınar House Museum and the Naval Soldier from the 18th century to the present day. It is the school.

Its beautiful streets and wooden mansions from the last period of the Ottoman Empire are also worth seeing. In addition, Değirmen Burnu Natural Park, which hosts the famous Heybeliada Moonlight and is surrounded by pine trees that offer a picnic and walking area, is also one of the places worth seeing in Heybeliada.

Although Heybeliada hotels and restaurants are not as good as Büyükada's, there are a few places we can recommend to you. 

When you decide to stay in Heybeliada, I recommend you find a place on Airbnb. Because the standard of the hotels on the island may not satisfy you.

If you feel tired and hungry after the island tour, my recommendation would be Neşeli Restaurant located in the center of the island. Another option would be Başak Meat and Fish restaurant. 

I also strongly recommend you to try Sinem Ice Cream Shop, just across from Şehir Hatları Pier, to enjoy ice cream after your meal.

Although Heybeliada is not as developed as Büyükada in terms of hotels and restaurants, the beaches of Heybeliada are the best among the Prince Islands. Especially Cevahir Aqua Beach is the best beach you can go to in Istanbul.
